Joining the KJS WiFi
- First, you will need to join the WiFi using your usual network credentials.
- Next you will need to download the security certificate. This allows us to filter secure traffic and ensures that websites using HTTPS will work.
- Once downloaded you will need to install the certificate based on your devices operating system (see instructions below)
Installation Instructions
iOS (iPhone/iPad)
- Select the BYOD wireless network and sign in using your school username and password
- You will be displayed with a 802.1X certificate, click "Trust" in the top right hand corner.
- Once connected to the wireless, go to http://smoothwall/getcert and download the certificate.
- Once you click download, Safari will ask you to download a configuration profile. Click "Allow".
- Go to the Settings app, you should see a section at the top (underneath your name) labelled "Profile Downloaded". Click on this section.
- You will see the profile listed, it should be labelled "smoothwall-default-root-certificate". Click Install.
- Enter your passcode and click Install again.
- Once you have installed the certificate, go to Settings - General About - Certificate Trust Settings
- Find the certificate labelled "Smoothwall-default-root-certificate" and toggle the button to enable it.
Android
- Select the BYOD wireless network and sign in using the following drop down options:
EAP Method: PEAP
Phase-2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
CA Certificate: Do not validate
Identity: School Username
Anonymous Identity: Leave blank
Password: School Password
- Once connected to the wireless, go to http://smoothwall/getcert and download the certificate.
Please Note: These Instructions may differ depending on the model of phone.
- Go to the Settings app
- Tap "Security" and then "Encryption and credentials"
- Under "Credential Storage" tap "Install a Certificate from this device"
- Locate the certificate from your device and select it.
- If it asks you for the type of certificate, choose "CA Certificate"
- Enter your pin/authentication method and tap ok.
Windows
- Select the BYOD wireless network and sign in using your school username and password
- Once connected to the wireless, go to http://smoothwall/getcert and download the certificate
- Once you click download, the file will appear in your default downloads location
- You may receive a warning that the type of file can harm your computer. Click "keep/allow"
- Double click on the certificate file to open it
- In the window that appears, click on "Install Certificate"
- Follow the installation wizard, keeping the default options and selecting "Next" at each step
